Corbett Howard
Corbett currently is the Director of Business & Government Affairs for the City of Celina. He served as Executive Director of the Celina Economic Development Corporation from August 2008 to October 2018. He was born in Roswell, N.M., and is the former three terms Mayor of Celina, Texas. He was first elected to the Celina City Council in 1999 and elected Mayor of Celina in 2002. He served as president of the Celina EDC in 2001. In 2003 Corbett was selected for membership in 21 for “The 21st Century” which recognizes influential leaders in Collin County Texas. Currently he serves on the Board of the McKinney Urban Transit District. He is the Past President of the Preston Trail Rotary Club.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Southern Nazarene University. He graduated Engineer Officer Candidate School in Fort Belvoir, Va., and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in Military Intelligence. He served at MACV in Vietnam as a 1st Lt. S2 Advisor in Kien Giang Province. Howard was awarded the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, during his tour of duty. In 2012 he was appointed to serve on the Board of the Military Warriors Support Foundation.
Corbett completed a career of 37 years in the apparel industry. He achieved eight national sales awards at Haggar Apparel and was Vice-President and National Sales Manager at Falcon Garments Inc. He spent six years as a retail consultant to two national apparel companies. Corbett was a partner in Harvey-Howard Inc. that developed Preston 455 a successful planned residential development in Celina, TX.
He is a charter member of the Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco. He has Directed his adult Bible study class for over 28 years He and his wife Sue have been married 54 years. They have two children and eight grandchildren.
