TERRORISM…is a broad term for ‘bad stuff’. With your permission I have detoured from the attributes of God based on what is going on in the world today. It’s hard to focus on flowers, birds, planets, trees when Christians and minority religious groups are being slaughtered, made homeless and innocent men are decapitated for the world to see.

Edmund Burke, an Irish statesman who lived in the 1700’s, was right when he said: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles of Biblical scripture. This is not subject to debate. It’s documented FACT! Its people have confronted the spread of evil in virtually every part of this globe. I dare say that this nation may be the only country standing between total annihilation of Israel and Christianity. Even with all of our issues, I do believe that America is still God’s instrument for good throughout the world.

So, what does God have to say about all of this? First, we have to address our own hearts. In the first chapter of Proverbs He tells us to shun evil counsel by explaining what they are like. “My son, do not walk in the way with them, keep your foot from their path; for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood” (1:15,16).

We are witnessing a dark cloud of evil creeping across the earth today. This is not the first time in history, even in many of our lifetimes. To do nothing is not an option. Nations will be swallowed up, even slaughtered to the very last citizen. On the surface it would appear that the very foundations of this world are being destroyed. But the Psalms tell us something different. “In the Lord I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, flee as a bird to your mountain? For look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He shall reign coals; fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup” (11:1-6).

Would He have us to fear these evil acts of terrorism? The answer is a resounding NO!  Listen closely. “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears… The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them” (Psa. 34:4,7). But I also do not believe that He wants us to be naïve. We here in America cherish life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But this is not the case of those who are our enemies as evidenced by their terrorism. Their ultimate goal is to wipe you and me from the face of the earth. Nothing less will do. We have to understand that this comes from the very pits of hell and Satan himself.

If, in your religion, you believe that your god on judgment day could judge you unfit for Paradise even though you had served him well by ‘doing’ all the ‘good works’ required of you; and you believe there is a prescribed way to avoid the judgment decision, wouldn’t you consider the option?  And especially if hatred for ‘your enemy’ has been drilled into you since birth? Kill some ‘infidels’ and maybe even commit suicide in the process.  ‘Automatic entry!’ SOUND CRAZY?  This is the evil mindset we face today.  Terrorism has no boundaries or borders! Read the recent headlines.

You say, “I’m just one person; what can I do?” “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded…. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up” (James 4:7,8,10). Our Lord has given us clear instructions about what we face and how we are to face it.  “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves” (Mt. 10:16).

And for us as a nation? A couple of years ago God led me to write the book Revival of Repentance. It is based entirely on the promise to Solomon and Israel if they would turn to the one true God. I submit that this is the answer for us today.

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and

seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,

and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).

However, the alternative is outlined in vs. 19. Not pretty! We need to seriously pray for and serve the church across the world; for the deceived, and for our elected officials to have wisdom and boldness to confront terrorism wherever it is found. I say, “no more 9/11’s!” Rejoice that God is sending laborers along with miracles, dreams and visions to lost souls and millions are responding to His call. Never forget, I’ve read the end of the book–HE WINS!!!

“Unless the Lord guards the city (state and nation),

the watchman stays awake in vain” (Psa. 127:1b).
